SpiceJet Staffer CISF Jawan at Jaipur Airport: A Controversial Incident

Jaipur, July 2024: A shocking incident at Jaipur Airport has sparked widespread controversy and legal action. Anuradha Rani, a food supervisor with SpiceJet, was arrested for slapping a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel during an argument over security screening. The incident, captured on camera, has gone viral, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the altercation and the subsequent legal actions taken by both parties.

The Incident

The incident occurred around 4 am on July 11, 2024, when Anuradha Rani, a SpiceJet employee, was stopped by assistant sub-inspector Giriraj Prasad at the vehicle gate. According to police and CISF officials, Rani did not have valid permission to use the gate, and when asked to undergo screening at a different entrance, an argument ensued. The altercation escalated, and Rani slapped the security personnel, leading to her immediate arrest.

The Allegations

SpiceJet has defended its employee, claiming that she was subjected to “Sexual harassment” by the CISF officer. The airline stated that Rani had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and was escorted by a catering vehicle at the steel gate. However, she was allegedly subjected to inappropriate language and an unwelcome advance by the CISF officer, prompting her to slap him in response.

CISF’s Perspective

The CISF has a different account of the incident. According to a senior CISF official, Rani was asked to undergo mandatory screening at a nearby entrance for airline crew, as no female CISF personnel were available at the time. The official claimed that Rani got agitated and slapped the on-duty CISF personnel, leading to the registration of a case against her and her subsequent arrest.

Legal Actions

An FIR has been filed against Anuradha Rani under sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). She has been sent to 15-day custody, pending further investigation and legal proceedings. SpiceJet has taken immediate legal action against the CISF personnel for “sexual harassment,” stating that it will provide full support to its employees.

Public Reaction

The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many expressing outrage and shock at the alleged behavior of the CISF officer. The controversy has also raised questions about the security protocols and the handling of such situations at airports.

Conclusion

The incident at Jaipur Airport highlights the need for better communication and respect between airport staff and security personnel. While the CISF must ensure security, the alleged harassment of the SpiceJet employee raises concerns about the behavior of some security personnel. The legal actions taken by both parties will likely be closely monitored, and the outcome could have significant implications for airport security and employee relations.
