Bomb Threats Rock Delhi School

Delhi, May 1, 2024: In a shocking incident, several schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received bomb threats via email on Wednesday morning, prompting the authorities to take swift action and evacuate the premises. The Delhi Police has launched an investigation into the matter, and so far, no explosives have been found at any of the schools. 

The bomb threats were sent via email to over 60 schools, with the first reports coming in around 4.15 am. The emails, which appeared to be a mass email campaign, did not specify the date and used a Russian domain, “mail.ru”, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The MHA has turned the threats into a hoax, and Delhi Police are working to identify the origin of the emails.

The schools that received the threats include Delhi Public School (Dwarka), Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Mother Mary School at Mayur Vihar in east Delhi, Delhi Public School in Noida, and Amity International School in Pushp Vihar and Saket. The schools were evacuated, and students were sent home as a precautionary measure. Bomb squads and Delhi Fire Service officials were rushed to the schools to conduct thorough searches.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena assured the public that the police are fully prepared to prevent any untoward incident and that the culprits will not be spared Delhi Police have found the origin of the threat emails and are investigating the matter further.

The Delhi Education Minister, Atishi, also addressed the situation, urging parents not to panic and assuring that nothing suspicious has been found at any of the schools. She emphasized that the authorities are in constant touch with the schools and are working to ensure the safety of students.

The incident has led to heightened security measures across the national capital, with additional police personnel deployed at schools and public places, Parents are being advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

The Delhi Police have also warned against false WhatsApp messages circulating about the bomb threats, asking people not to spread misinformation and to rely only on official updates from the authorities.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between authorities, schools, and parents in maintaining the safety and security of our children.

The current status of the investigation into the bomb threats in Delhi schools involves the Delhi Police’s Special Cell registering an FIR and probing potential links to ISI and China. The police have identified the origin of the threat emails, which were sent to multiple schools in Delhi-NCR, and are investigating the matter further to uncover any potential connections to external entities like ISI and China. Additionally, the police have warned against false WhatsApp messages and are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

  2. Lodge a Complaint: Users can lodge complaints online through the portal. The police Complaints Authority (PCA) by the Delhi government handles complaints regarding serious misconduct by policemen of officers of the Delhi Police.
  3. Check Complaint Status: After complaining, individuals can check the status of their complaints online through the same portal.
  4. Woman’s Helpline: Women can also access women’s helpline numbers provided by the Delhi Police for various districts in Delhi, road safety details, traffic maps, and services provided by the Delhi Traffic Police.
