The Indian cricket team returned home to a hero’s welcome on Thursday, July 4th, 2024 after winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final on June 29th to capture their second T20 World title.

Upon arriving at Delhi airport, the team was greeted by exuberant fans braving monsoon showers to catch a glimpse of their champions. Despite heavy security, supporters danced, held up congratulatory signs, and waved the Indian flag to celebrate the team’s achievement.

The players joined in the festivities after reaching their hotel, with one fan remarking “We have waited for this month for the past 13 years. The team has made us proud by winning the World Cup”. India last won the T20 World Cup in 2011.

After resting at the ITC Maurya Hotel, the team headed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg for a special meeting. PM Modi warmly welcomed the champions, sitting in a circle with the players.
